And promoter Frank Warren believes the Brit will be throwing away his prime if he retires now

The Gypsy King is at the peak of his powers following back-to-back knockout wins and promoter Frank Warren reckons he’d be throwing away his prime years if he calls it a day now.

He told iFL TV: “I just feel that he’s still got a lot to give. But what I wouldn’t want him to do is to retire now and come back in a couple of years.

“Because I think he’s just coming to his peak now and I think taking time out he will lose that and lose the best part of his career.

The WBC plan to give fan favourite Fury a YEAR to decide his fighting future, but Warren insists he won’t try to “influence” the Wythenshawe warrior’s decision.

“The mandatory is not due yet and until the next mandatory is due, which I think is quite a while away, it’s up to him whether he chooses to fight on or not.

“I’m not going to try and influence him.

“And for that matter, the WBC and Mauricio Sulaiman has said himself he won’t try and influence him.

“If Tyson wants to fight on, he’ll make that decision in his own time. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t – he’s going out on a high.

“We’ll just see. For me, it’s not about pushing him.

“If he wants to fight, he’ll fight when he’s ready. If he doesn’t want to fight, then we’ve seen the last of a great fighter.”

Fury doubled down on his apparent retirement days after his sixth-round stoppage of Brixton banger Whyte, reminding his fans he’s “won every belt there is to win”.

But his American promoter Bob Arum reckons a blockbuster undisputed title fight with the winner of Anthony Joshua’s summer rematch with Oleksandr Usyk could entice him to fight one more time.

He told Fight Hype: “Well, I think Fury is going to wait to see how the Joshua fight comes out with Usyk and then he’ll make a determination whether he wants to continue.

“Other than fighting the winner of Joshua-Usyk, there’s really nothing that’s really of interest to Tyson Fury, so we will have to see.”
