Is Fury's Mindset in Boxing?
Chinese heavyweight boxer Zhilei Zhang has raised concerns about Tyson Fury's mindset as he prepares for his upcoming fight against Oleksandr Usyk. The two fighters are set to compete in the heavyweight division's first ever four-belt unification on February 17 in Saudi Arabia. Zhang believes that Fury's recent crossover clash with ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou has affected his focus on boxing.
In his fight against Ngannou, Fury was unexpectedly knocked down and controversially walked away with a points win. This outcome has left Zhang questioning the unbeaten WBC champion's mindset heading into the historic undisputed title decider against Usyk.
Fury's Lack of Training
Zhang suggests that Fury did not properly train for the fight against Ngannou, and his current focus seems to be on commercial ventures rather than boxing. Zhang emphasizes the importance of being fully committed and dedicated to training in the boxing business, and believes that Fury's lack of preparation could be a major problem for him going into the Usyk fight.
Zhang's Hope for Fury
Despite his criticism, Zhang expresses his desire for Fury to succeed and hopes that the British superstar leaves Saudi Arabia with all the belts. Zhang even goes as far as to challenge Fury for the belts in the future, urging him to train hard and do the right thing.
