Underdog Stuns Unbeaten Favorite with Amazing One-Punch KO to Become Unexpected World Champion

Adrian Curiel, a massive underdog, pulled off a stunning upset in Monte Carlo by knocking out Sivenathi Nontshinga with a single punch and claiming the IBF light-flyweight title. The previously unbeaten Nontshinga was left unconscious on the canvas as Curiel celebrated his unexpected victory.

Curiel's Unleashes Brutal One-Punch Knockout

Curiel, who had tasted defeat four times before, delivered a devastating one-punch overhand right that instantly felled his opponent. Nontshinga, the 24-year-old South African, had been considered a huge favorite with bookies going into the fight, but his plans for a routine defense came crashing down in the second round.

A Dream Come True for Curiel

Speaking after the fight, Curiel expressed his joy and gratitude for the victory. He called it an absolute dream and a victory for himself, his family, and Mexico. Curiel shared that he had spoken to his mother before the fight, assuring her that he would not be beaten. He added that this win was the culmination of a dream he had since he was six years old.

Joining the Ranks of Boxing's Great Upsets

Curiel's victory now secures his place among other memorable upsets in boxing history. Andy Ruiz's shocking win over Anthony Joshua in 2019 to become heavyweight champion and Buster Douglas' legendary triumph over Mike Tyson in 1990 are still widely regarded as two of the biggest upsets in the sport.

Curiel's win set the stage for Joe Cordina's successful IBF super featherweight title defense later in the evening against Edward Vazquez. Cordina, after a hard-fought battle, emerged the victor and extended his undefeated record to 17-0. He expressed satisfaction with his performance and demanded recognition for his back-to-back victories over two champions.
