Watch crazy moment Anthony Joshua’s ex-opponent Eric Molina is sent tumbling as ring COLLAPSES against De la Torre

FORMER heavyweight contender Eric Molina was involved in a shocking incident after the ring collapsed during his fight with Alejandro de la Torre.

The American veteran, 39, has taken part in huge fights against the likes of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder during his long career.

The pair had edged over to the corner of the ring and were exchanging punches when the floor imploded underneath them

But in 35 fights, 27-7 Molina – who lost to Brit Fabio Wardley in Gibraltar earlier this year – experienced a career first in Mexico.

The US ace was taking on 2-11 journeyman De la Torre when the ring suddenly collapsed as they edged over towards the corner.

Fans scattered as the fighters crashed to the ground.

Neither boxer was injured and the fight was able to continue after the ring was put back together and deemed structurally sound.

Molina went on to win via second-round KO and shared the clip of the horror moment the ring imploded on Instagram.

Alongside the video, Molina wrote: “About last night. A wild night in Mexico that I’ll never forget.

“I’ve heard of ropes busting and boards breaking, but this was a first.

“Luckily nobody was injured from the landing.

“After the ring was put back together the fight continued and ended shortly after.

“Go fight in Mexico. It will be fun, they said. Second rd KO.”

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman later added: “Anything can happen in the ring.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries.”

Molina fought British star Joshua in 2016 for the IBF heavyweight crown, losing via third-round TKO in Manchester.

A year earlier, Molina had been beaten by Wilder for the WBC title via ninth-round KO.
