A CRICKET fan who has waited ten months in Sri Lanka for England’s tour to restart was stumped after finding he will miss out again.
Rob Lewis, 37, flew to South Asia in March only for the games to be cancelled due to Covid-19.
The web designer refused to leave until the team returned.
But the Barmy Army member must watch the rearranged Tests on TV as it is held behind closed doors.
Even a viewing area overlooking the ground may be shut.
But Rob, of Sunbury, Surrey, said: “There has never been a point where I thought I should go home.”
With hostel rates at rock-bottom prices, he has been working remotely and has adopted a stray dog called Pup.
He has also been playing records at a bar posing as DJ Randy Caddick, named after England bowler Andy Caddick.
Rob jokingly asked Sri Lanka coach Mickey Arthur if he could be the team’s water boy.
With no ground access for the First Test starting in Galle tomorrow, Rob still hoped to watch from the landmark Galle Fort.
But he said: “The rumours are they will close this.”
