England cricket stars throw fake wedding for Katherine Brunt and Natalie Sciver after coronavirus cancelled special day

ENGLAND’S women cricketers threw a fake wedding for Katherine Brunt and Natalie Sciver after coronavirus ruined their special day.

The pair – who have been dating since 2017 – were due to get married at the weekend.

But after coronavirus saw their big day wiped out, their England team-mates threw a ‘fake wedding’ for the happy couple ahead of the T20 against West Indies.

Brunt, 35, and Sciver announced their relationship to the world in October 2019.

And they soon revealed they planned to get married in 2020, only for coronavirus to cancel most weddings in the UK since March.

To make up for missing out on their special day, Brunt and Sciver’s England team-mates threw a ‘fake wedding’ for the loved-up couple in their bio-secure ‘bubble’.

England captain Heather Knight shared a sweet video of the ‘ceremony’ on Instagram.

Earlier this summer, Brunt and Sciver, 28, revealed they opted to postpone their wedding, as they couldn’t imagine tying the knot without their team-mates in attendance.

They also didn’t believe they could pull out of all international duty this autumn, ahead of five T20 games with West Indies this month.

Brunt revealed: “All our best friends are part of the England team, so if we didn’t want any of them there, we could just go ahead.

“But my maid of honour is [England wicketkeeper] Amy Jones.

“There was talk of myself, Natalie and Amy not being part of any cricket this year, so that we would have the opportunity to stick with our plans and go ahead with the wedding, but it’s just too much of a dent.

“Releasing Amy would not have been the right thing to do for England cricket.”
