Former Uber Driver becomes Star Bowler for Pakistan Cricket Team

From Driving to Dominating

Aamir Jamal, a former Uber driver in Australia, has made a remarkable transition from chauffeuring Australians around to tearing through their batting line-up as Pakistan's star bowler.

Outstanding Performances

Despite Pakistan's series loss against Australia, Jamal, 27, has been a standout performer with the ball. In his debut Test match in Perth, he took seven wickets, including six in the first innings. He continued his impressive form in the Second Test at the MCG, taking another five wickets, which included dismissing key players Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith in Australia's first innings. Even in the ongoing Third Test in Sydney, Jamal has taken six wickets in the Aussies' first innings, giving Pakistan hope for a victory.

From Uber to International Cricket

Jamal's journey from an Uber driver to an international cricket player is nothing short of inspiring. Just six years ago, he was driving people around Australia. Reflecting on his previous job, Jamal said, "This struggle instilled punctuality in me and I started to value things. When you are forced to work hard and earn things, you value them."

Pakistan's Struggles Continue

Despite Jamal's outstanding performances, Pakistan still faces an uphill battle. After being bowled out for 313 in their first innings, they managed to reduce Australia to 299 with Jamal's inspired bowling. However, Pakistan's batting collapsed on day three, leaving them at 68/7. With just a lead of 82 runs and three wickets in hand, their chances of a victory remain uncertain.
