Freddie Flintoff Impresses as England Coach, Says Marcus Trescothick

Trescothick wants Flintoff back in the dressing room

Former England player and current assistant coach, Marcus Trescothick, has expressed his desire to have Andrew Flintoff back on the coaching staff. Trescothick, who played alongside Flintoff in 46 Test matches, believes Flintoff has brought a positive energy back to the team during his time as a part-coach/part-mentor.

Flintoff's growth praised by Trescothick

Trescothick spoke highly of Flintoff's growth and contribution to the team, saying, "He's back into the person you expect around cricket because that's what I’ve seen for so many years. To have him sprinkling a bit of gold dust around the team and having the younger players working with him has been invaluable, really."

A successful return for Flintoff

After a near-fatal car crash while filming Top Gear last year, Flintoff's time with the England squad has marked his first public appearances. Encouraged by England supremo Rob Key, Flintoff worked with the team in their recent matches against New Zealand and Ireland. Although he will not be involved in the World Cup, there is a possibility of him joining the white-ball tour of the Caribbean in December.

England's next match is against Ireland in Bristol on Tuesday, before they travel to India for the World Cup.
