What Happened to Hardik Pandya?

During India's fourth league match of the Cricket World Cup against Bangladesh, Hardik Pandya appeared to twist his ankle while bowling his first over of the match. He was in visible pain and had difficulty walking, prompting a physio to come onto the pitch and tape up his ankle. Despite attempting to continue playing, Pandya ultimately walked off the pitch to receive further treatment, leaving teammate Virat Kohli to bowl the rest of the over. It was later announced that he would not be returning to play for the remainder of the innings.

Duration of Pandya's Absence

Details about the severity of Hardik Pandya's injury and the timeline for his return to the World Cup are yet to be confirmed. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted an update stating that Pandya's injury is currently being assessed and that he will undergo scans. Fans on Twitter expressed their hopes for a speedy recovery for the cricket star.

Hardik Pandya's Career and Background

Hardik Pandya, 30, made his debut for India's national cricket team in 2016. He has also played for the Baroda cricket team in Vadodara, Gujarat. In the Indian Premier League, Pandya used to represent the Mumbai Indians before joining the Gujarat Titans in 2022.

Pandya is married to 31-year-old Nataša Stanković, an actress and dancer from Serbia who now resides in Mumbai, India. The couple tied the knot on May 31, 2020, in a small wedding ceremony during the coronavirus pandemic. On February 14, 2023, they renewed their vows at the Raffles Hotel in Udaipur, India.
