A Shocking Revelation

During the rapid-fire round of questions on the Bada Bharat Show, Gambhir stunned cricket fans worldwide by stating, "I shouldn't have played cricket." However, he didn't disclose the reason behind this regret.

A Stellar Career

Gambhir, a left-handed player, made his ODI debut for India in 2003 against Bangladesh. He went on to represent the country in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs, and 37 T20Is. Throughout his career, Gambhir received several accolades, including the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2008 and the ICC Test Player of the Year award in 2009.

A Successful Captain

Gambhir not only played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but also captained the team. Under his leadership, KKR won their first IPL title in 2012 and repeated the victory in 2014. Additionally, he served as the captain of the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Retirement and Life Beyond Cricket

Gambhir bid farewell to international-level cricket in December 2018, having played his last Test in November 2016. His final appearances for India in ODI and T20I matches were in December 2012 and January 2013, respectively. Currently, Gambhir serves as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and holds a position as a Member of Parliament for East Delhi with the ruling BJP.

As an Indian politician, Gambhir is a member of the Lok Sabha and was honored with the Padma Shri in 2019, the fourth-highest civilian award in India.

In the Footsteps of Other Athletes

Gambhir is not the only athlete who has openly expressed regrets. Brazilian footballer Neymar recently spoke about his disappointment during his time with Paris Saint-Germain, while Welsh footballer Ethan Ampadu left Chelsea FC without any regrets.
