The Three Lions received a boost on their comeback trail as Australia’s spinner Nathan Lyon hobbled off with an injury during the final session of the day.
How did Nathan Lyon get injured?
Nathan Lyon suffered an injury to his right calf chasing a ball in the 37th over of England’s first innings during day two of the Second Ashes Test.
The Australian spinner looked in distress as he hobbled off the pitch at Lord’s.
Team-mate Steve Smith, who scored 110 in Australia’s first innings, admitted: “It didn’t look good. He doesn’t look like he’ll play any part in the rest of this game.
“We’re going to miss him — and could miss him for a while. If it’s not good, it is a big loss for us.”
The Aussie star arrived at Lord’s on crutches on day three of the Second Test.
The 35-year-old will continue to be assessed by Australia’s medical team but his participation in the rest of the series is in major doubt.
Lyons finished the first Test as the leading wicket-taker after taking eight wickets at Edgbaston.
