THE Cricket World Cup returns later this year after the tournament was originally delayed due to Covid.
Originally set to take place in Spring 2023, the World Cup returns a little later during bumper year which also sees England take on Australia in The Ashes.

England won the World Cup in 2019 then beat Pakistan to win the T20 World Cup too.
Only 10 teams will participate this year with eight having qualified already.
Former winners Sri Lanka are amongst the last of the qualifying teams before the final two places are decided in final tournament in Zimbabwe between June 18 and July 9.
When and Where is the World Cup taking place?
- The ICC have announced that the tournament will be held in October and November with the final to take place on Sunday, 26th November, 2023.
- The Host this year is due to be India who’s team have qualified already this year.
- However, some disputes between India and Pakistan may create problems as Pakistan have announced they may boycott the World Cup if India boycotts the Asia Cup.
Who is Playing in the World Cup?
- The eight teams that have qualified so far include: India, New Zealand, England, Austria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and South Africa.
- The final two places depend on who wins in the final qualifier.
- Fixtures will only be announced when all ten teams have been finalised.
Who is playing for the England Squad?
- England have yet to finalise their full squad for the World Cup while other teams are confirming theirs before the match.
- Coach Matthew Mott has expressed his uncertainty on the final selection due to inconsistent results from the England team who lost to Bangladesh in the T20s in March.
- The ODI team on the England Cricket Board website currently has: Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan, Adil Rawshid, Jason Roy, Philip Salt, Olly Stone, James Vince, David Willey, Chris Woakes and Luke Wood.
