SCOTS reportedly won’t get a day off if England emerge victorious over Italy on Sunday – despite secret plans to grant a national bank holiday.

Boris Johnson was yesterday tight-lipped on whether Brits will get a day away from work if Southgate’s Lions claim victory this weekend.

The news will come as a further blow to the Tartan Army after their defeat to Croatia

But it’s understood the PM is already drawing up plans for a day’s hol in August, when lockdown has finally fully lifted.

Bank holidays need a royal proclamation – and officials are looking to see if it can be issued in time for the summer.

And even if the Lions lift the cup, Scotland won’t get a day off – because the system for bank holidays is different north of the border

So far, the PM has refused to commit to a day off.

He said: “I think that would be tempting fate – let’s see.”

But the Sun has learned plans are already in the works.

And Mr Johnson urged bosses to be soft on workers who turn up late nursing monster hangovers next week.

Around eight million lionhearts have booked the day off to recover from monster hangovers after Sunday night’s do-or-die decider against Italy.

Fan fever led to around one in four of the nation’s 32m workers to schedule annual leave on Monday – double the number on normal Mondays in July.
