Alexis Mac Allister’s Red Card Overturned After Huge Backlash Over ‘Harsh’ Decision as Liverpool Star No Longer Suspended

Alexis Mac Allister, a Liverpool midfielder, has had his red card overturned following a challenge on Bournemouth's Ryan Christie during their match at Anfield. The decision to overturn the red card means Mac Allister will avoid a three-match suspension.

Victory for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp's men immediately appealed referee Thomas Bramall's decision to send off Mac Allister for serious foul play. The FA has now confirmed that the appeal has been successful, stating in an official statement that an independent Regulatory Commission has removed Mac Allister's three-match suspension following a claim of wrongful dismissal.

Availability for Upcoming Games

With the red card overturned, Mac Allister will now be available for Liverpool's upcoming matches against Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Wolves.

Controversial Decision

After the match, Klopp vehemently disagreed with the referee's decision, calling it harsh and stating that it should not have resulted in a red card. He argued that the punishment of playing with 10 men for 40 minutes was already sufficient and vowed to discuss the decision further with the authorities. Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer shared Klopp's sentiments, describing the decision as terrible and extremely harsh.

Liverpool's Premier League campaign started with a win over Bournemouth following a draw with Chelsea, earning them four points from their first two games.
