Alexis Sanchez ‘calls Mikel Arteta to beg for Arsenal transfer return’ after release from Marseille

ALEXIS SANCHEZ reportedly called Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta “begging” for a return to the Emirates.

And the Chilean has already received a response as he looks for a new club after leaving Marseille.

Alexis Sanchez called Mikel Arteta over a return to Arsenal

Sanchez, 34, will be a free agent when his French deal expires at the end of the month.

He netted 18 goals after joining from Inter Milan last summer.

But SunSport understands former Man United star Sanchez is desperate for a Premier League return.

And Arsenal have been tipped to make an audacious swoop for their ex-striker.

Sanchez scored 80 goals during a three-and-a-half year spell before joining the Red Devils in 2017.

Arsenal are known to be in the transfer market for more firepower, with a deal for Chelsea’s Kai Havertz growing closer.

And Chilean paper La Tercera claims Sanchez called Arteta last week, “begging” his former teammate to bring him back to north London.

However, Sanchez received a “direct” response as Arteta rejected the request.

The Spaniard is said to have explained his vision for Arsenal, which involves building a squad of top youngsters.

And Sanchez did not fit into Arteta’s plans for the future.

It means the veteran is back to square one in his hunt for a new home.

One option could see him renew with Marseille, who are eager for Sanchez to stay.

The Chilean report claims there is also interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Italian giants Juventus.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian clubs are on standby, but Sanchez wants to play Champions League football if possible.
