Amazing Arsenal stats show how dominant Mikel Arteta’s side have been this season after best start in 135-year history

ARSENAL sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League after producing their best-ever start to a season.

Mikel Arteta’s side have 37 points from 14 games and have lost just once in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta has led Arsenal to their best ever start to a season

They have never managed a better return in their 135-year history and are in a commanding position heading into the World Cup break.

Arsenal’s only defeat in the league came at Manchester United but the Gunners responded well to that setback.

Only Newcastle share their record for fewest defeats and the two clubs also possess the best defensive records in the league with just 11 goals conceded.

But it is Arsenal who boast the most clean sheets with seven, while their 12 wins are unmatched.

Arsenal have also recorded one of the best starts ever in the Premier League and are just three points short of the 40-point total Manchester City achieved after 14 games in 2017-18.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the Prem with 100 points that season and the Gunners are on course to do the same if they maintain their current point rate.

It remains to be seen whether the break for the World Cup will be a help or a hindrance, or whether the club will spend big once again in January.

Piers Morgan has called on Arsenal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo to help fire them to Premier League glory.

The striker’s time at United could be over after he criticised Erik ten Hag and the club’s hierarchy.

But the Gunners have been heavily linked with a midfielder and could make a move for Youri Tielamans.

Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhalo Mudryk has also caught the eye and could sign for the North Londoners if their £52million bid is accepted.
