Antonio Conte admits he doesn’t care if telling ‘truth’ hurts Tottenham or his players after hinting he could resign

ANTONIO CONTE does not care if his comments upset Spurs or his stars.

The Tottenham boss questioned his club, squad and even his own future in a sensational rant straight after their 1-0 defeat at Burnley on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte insists he will not hide away from speaking the truth at Tottenham

Asked if he risked upsetting his players, he said: “Why? Because I tell the truth? If you tell the truth, you destabilise?

“My family always said to me: With the truth you grow, with a lie you destabilise people.

“With the truth, you grow and do not destabilise the club or the players. If I destabilise someone, he is not a good man and this is not a good club.

“I want a strong club, strong men, strong players. The truth is the only way I know to grow.”

Conte’s comments suggested he was on the verge of leaving his job.

When asked yesterday if he could guarantee he would not quit Spurs before the end of the season, he said: “I think that in this moment I guarantee the best commitment that I can give to this club.

“I have another year of contract with this club but you know very well that football is very strange. You can have three or four years of contract and the club can sack you.

“Sometimes someone decides to go away.

“The most important thing is that I am enjoying my time with this club. I think that we are working very well. I think that we are starting to build something important for the club.

“I always say, when I arrive in one place and  when I have to go away from this club, I have to leave this club much better than I found it.

“I have done this with every club I have worked at. For sure, it will be the same for this club.

“If you ask me in four months, one year, two years, three years.

“Now it is very difficult to answer this question. But for sure, I am working to improve the club in every aspect.

“But I think in this moment, and I repeat, I am totally committed to Tottenham and I have a good relationship with the club, especially with the chairman Daniel Levy.

“He wanted me here and for this reason, I  thank him for this opportunity that he gave me. I think this is the best way, to have a direct way with the owner. It is OK.”
