Arsenal and Nottingham Forest Break New Premier League Protocol, Avoid Punishment

Premier League clubs Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have both been found in breach of new rules just 24 hours into the start of the season. However, both teams managed to escape punishment for their actions. The new regulations, which were introduced over the summer, include a change that allows only one coach to stand at the edge of the technical area during matches. If a second coach joins and gives instructions, they should be booked. Despite breaking this rule during the lunchtime kick-off, both Arsenal and Nottingham Forest coaches were not cautioned.

Arsenal and Nottingham Forest Coaches Fail to Comply

During Arsenal's 2-1 win, Mikel Arteta's No2 Albert Stuivenberg and Gunners set-piece coach Nicolas Jover were spotted alongside the manager on the side of the Emirates pitch, in direct violation of the new protocol. Nottingham Forest's Steve Cooper also had his side-kick, Steven Reid, caught with him in the technical area. According to the rules, all three assistants should have been shown yellow cards by referee Michael Oliver.

Premier League Officials Miss the Incidents

Despite the clear breach of the rules, Premier League officials failed to notice the incidents, as they are still adapting to the implementation of the new regulations. This highlights the challenge of enforcing the wave of changes that have been introduced.

Contrasting Actions of Referee Stuart Attwell

Referee Stuart Attwell, who previously booked Arteta for waving an imaginary card during the Community Shield, did not hesitate to brandish yellow cards to Marco Silva and one of his coaches in the closing minutes of Fulham's win at Everton. This inconsistency in enforcement has led to criticism from fans on social media.

Fans Express Discontent on Twitter

Fans took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the officials in the Arsenal clash with Nottingham Forest. Many believe that other coaches, such as Newcastle's Jason Tindall, would not receive the same lenient treatment. Supporters highlighted the discrepancy and questioned why actions were not taken against Arsenal's three people in the technical area.

Overall, the incident has raised concerns about the consistency and effectiveness of the new technical area rule in the Premier League.
