Arsenal ‘axe Brazilian chief medic Bruno Mazziotti less than a year after joining’ following Steve Bould sacking

MIKEL ARTETA’S Arsenal rebuild has continued behind the scenes with chief medic Bruno Mazziotti reportedly let go.

The Brazilian arrived less than a year ago following good reviews of his work with Paris Saint-Germain and his country’s national team.

Bruno Mazziotti is set to leave Arsenal this summer

However, according to Goal, the Gunners have informed him that his contract will not be renewed.

The news follows the departure of Steve Bould from the Under-23s.

The ex-defender spent over three decades in North London, first as a player and later as assistant to Arsene Wenger.

But a tenth-placed finish in the 13-team Premier League 2 has led to academy chief Per Mertesacker being charged with finding a replacement.

Arsenal boss Arteta has long spoken of the need for a summer revamp, which was expected to focus on the first-team.

David Luiz will leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Mazziotti had praised the defender after he made an emotional farewell speech to the squad.

He recently wrote on Instagram: “David Luiz, thanks for everything!!!

“I feel very honored to have been able to share the day to day with you this season. The season ends tomorrow, but there were several teachings.

“I could list several but maybe two that I can share that are valid for our lives… ‘Falling may not be a choice, but not getting up after the fall, that is an option that we do not accept’.

“Another one that sums up his trajectory, ‘If you want glory, always be brave’. Another game to end a season of immense learning for everyone. Be strong Arsenal.”

The Gunners face Brighton on Sunday hoping to sneak into the Europa Conference League.
