Arsenal contact former boss Arsene Wenger over sensational return to the Emirates in bid to unite fans

ARSENAL have reportedly contacted former boss Arsene Wenger over a return to the club.

The legendary Frenchman left The Emirates in 2018 after 22 years at the helm.

Arsenal have reportedly want Arsene Wenger to return to the Emirates

Despite his three Premier League title triumphs making him the most-successful manager in their history, the 70-year-old faced fierce fan criticism in his final campaigns in the dug-out.

Wenger is still believed to be scarred by his departure.

However, the Daily Mirror claim Arsenal are keen to welcome him back to North London.

And they state senior figures have been making inroads to persuade him into a reunion to take up a new role.

Wenger stated on his exit that he would always be an Arsenal supporter.

But he has also spoken about his reluctance to go back.

Now the Mirror claim Gunners chiefs would love to welcome him back to help garner support among the fans.

Footballs world governing body Fifa announced in November that Wenger had taken up a new role with them.

He is currently working full-time as head of all Fifas football development activities for the mens and womens game as chief of global football development.

Wenger was previously linked heavily with the Bayern Munich.

He is believed to have held talks with the German outfit following Niko Kovacs sacking but later declared he was not in the running for the job.

It remains to be seen what role Arsenal, who appointed Mikel Arteta as their new manager in December, want him to take up.
