ARSENAL imposed a travel ban on their whole squad after postponing plans to resume training today.

There were suggestions South American stars such as Brazilian David Luiz could be allowed to return to their virus-stricken countries.

Arsenal have stopped all players from travelling abroad amid the coronavirus crisis

But the club have made it clear no one will be granted permission to visit their homeland despite the current Premier League shutdown.

Arsenal’s Spanish, French and German stars could not get back home because of travel restrictions across Europe.

Now South Americans Luiz, Lucas Torreira, Gabriel Martinelli and Emiliano Martinez will also be blocked from flying abroad.

The Gunners moved to keep everyone in lockdown after Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian stars Neymar and Thiago Silva flew back home last week just hours before Paris was closed down by the French government.

That 14-day quarantine expires today but the players have been told to remain at home and continue to train alone.

A club source confirmed: “It has been made clear no one will be allowed to fly.

“At a time when people are being urged to stay at home, it is important we set an example.

“Now is not the right time for the players to train together.”

The club had planned for the players to have a joint workout today after their London Colney training ground reopened last week following a deep cleaning programme.

But it was scrapped yesterday after talks with medical experts, who have stressed the need for social distancing.

A club spokesman said: “It would be irresponsible to ask players to come back at this time.”
