Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be named Chelsea boss

Mason Mount will have 12 months remaining on his Chelsea contract at the end of the season

Mount’s future has been in the spotlight this term, with the England star’s contract at Stamford Bridge set to expire in June 2024.

Todd Boehly met with his representatives in recent weeks, but no agreement over an extension was struck.

The uncertainty surrounding Mount’s future has contributed to significant links with Liverpool and Arsenal.

Both Premier League rivals reckon that the 24-year-old would be a perfect candidate to bolster their respective midfields.

According to the Mail, however, Pochettino is likely to want to keep Mount.

The former Tottenham boss admires his work rate and technical skills and would want him to be part of his Chelsea team.

Whether the Blues would be willing to risk him running down his contract and leaving on a free transfer remains to be seen.

Mount is set to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his abdomen.

The 36-cap star has scored three goals in 35 appearances for Chelsea this term, also laying on six assists.

Liverpool appeared to switch their attention to Mount after pulling out of the race for Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham.

While the Gunners reportedly see him as an alternative to his close pal Declan Rice.
