Arsenal misfit Sokratis edging closer to return to Genoa with Italian club also interested in Shkodren Mustafi transfer

GENOA are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal outcasts Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi.

Both of the defenders have fallen out of favour under the management of Mikel Arteta this season.

Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi have failed to impress Mikel Arteta

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Genoa are prepared to offer Sokratis a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Sokratis, 32, played for the Serie A side from 2008 until 2010 before he joined AC Milan.

The source states that the 90-cap Greece international has agreed to a move back to Genoa.

But Turkish giants Fenerbahce are expected to make an offer for him this month.

Olympiacos could also make a move for Mustafi – who joined Arsenal from Dortmund in 2018.

He has been left out of Arteta’s squads this season and has not made a senior appearance since the FA Cup final.

Genoa have also reportedly made an approach for Mustafi in the past few days.

The German defender has made just three appearances in the Premier League this season.

Mikel Arteta is expected to consider offers for both of the players

It was reported last month that his representatives have held talks over a move to Barcelona.

But Genoa look set to make a move for Mustafi – who is also out of contract in the summer.

Mustafi’s father fuelled speculation that he could leave this month as he said ‘nothing is ruled out’.
