Arsenal set to sell Emile Smith Rowe as Chelsea plot shock move

London rivals eyeing up midfielder

Arsenal are reportedly looking to offload midfielder Emile Smith Rowe in the final days of the transfer window. And it seems their London rivals Chelsea are gearing up to make a surprise move for the out-of-favour player.

Interest from Premier League rivals

Smith Rowe has garnered interest from other Premier League teams, with Chelsea said to be leading the race for his signature. Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea's manager, is keen to bolster his squad in the attacking department following a series of injuries.

Unhappy with limited playing time

The 23-year-old midfielder has reportedly grown frustrated at Arsenal after not featuring in their opening matches of the season. He played a mere three minutes in their Community Shield victory over Manchester City. Smith Rowe is among the players who could be sold by Mikel Arteta's side ahead of the transfer window deadline.

No set valuation for Smith Rowe

It remains unclear how much Arsenal would demand for Smith Rowe's services. The club is keen to recoup some funds after splurging £170 million on transfers this summer.

Gabriel also on the way out?

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes could also be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium. The centre-back has been dropped from the starting XI for the team's first three Premier League matches. Manager Mikel Arteta is said to be open to selling Gabriel if a suitable replacement can be found.

Gabriel joined Arsenal from Lille in 2020 for a fee of £27 million. Despite the benching of Jurrien Timber, who arrived for £40 million from Ajax, Gabriel has not been able to secure a starting spot.
