Arsenal star David Luiz ‘looking for new club as injured defender eyes MLS free transfer with two months left on deal’

DAVID LUIZ is reportedly preparing for life after Arsenal as his representatives contact potential new clubs.

The Gunners are yet to make a decision on whether the Brazilian, 34, will be offered a new contract when his existing deal expires next month.

David Luiz is reportedly eyeing a move abroad when his Arsenal contract expires

And his entourage are said to be working on engineering a move abroad if he is let go.

According to CBS Sports, an MLS club are among the options being considered by Luiz.

Although his wage demands are thought to be a stumbling block to a Stateside switch.

Former club Benfica and Serie A side Lazio have also been touted to move for the one-time Premier League champion.

In the more immediate future, Arsenal are sweating over his fitness following another injury setback.

Luiz sat out the entirety of March having undergone minor knee surgery and returned to the side for Sunday’s win at Newcastle.

Yet he pulled up with a hamstring issue early in the second-half, sparking fears he had played his last game for the club.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said after the 2-0 win: “We don’t know. He felt something in his hamstring so it’s not good news.

“He’s put such a shift to be back with the team for the last few weeks after the knee surgery and it’s a real shame.”

However, the Mail report that Luiz is likely to return before the end of the campaign.

A role in Thursday’s Europa League showdown against Villarreal may be beyond the defender.

But he may yet play a part in Arsenal’s Premier League run-in and a potential Gdansk final if the side can overcome their first-leg deficit.
