Arsenal star Declan Rice has found himself the subject of ridicule from rival fans after footage emerged of him seemingly "playing up for the cameras" during Champions League training.
Rice's Champions League Debut
Tonight, Arsenal will take on PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates Stadium in Europe's premier club competition. The match could see several Arsenal players making their Champions League debut, including Declan Rice, who was signed by the club for a record-breaking £105 million.
Viral Video Sparks Mockery
Prior to tonight's game, Rice was caught on camera reacting quite theatrically to being handed an Adidas Champions League ball during training. The video, shared on Twitter, quickly went viral, leading rival fans to mock the midfielder's behavior.
One fan accused Rice of "playing up for the camera," while another commented on his apparent attempt to seek attention. A third fan pointed out how he gave the camera a knowing stare after receiving the ball, and a fourth highlighted that even his teammate Emile Smith Rowe seemed to call him out for it.
Arsenal's Champions League Return
Arsenal, managed by Mikel Arteta, find themselves back in the Champions League after a four-year absence. The club is placed in Group B alongside Sevilla and Lens, and their last appearance in the tournament was in 2017 under the leadership of Arsene Wenger. Interestingly, PSV defeated the Gunners in the group stage of the Europa League last season.
