Arsenal star Sokratis eyed by Stuttgart in summer transfer as Arteta plans to rip up and rebuild defence

ARSENAL star Sokratis is reportedly being eyed by German outfit Stuttgart.

The Independent claims Mikel Arteta is planning a huge overhaul of his squad this summer.

Stuttgart are lining up a summer move for Arsenal defender Sokratis

And Sokratis, 32, could be allowed to move on after entering the final year of his contract.

Stuttgart’s football chief is none other than former Arsenal scout Sven Mislintat.

And he believe Sokratis would jump at the chance to return to Germany after playing for Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund.

The Greece international joined Arsenal in 2018 from Dortmund for £17million and has made 68 appearances in all competitions.

However, Arteta’s defence has been less than impressive.

And with Sokratis approaching the final year of his deal, Arsenal could look to cash in and bring in a fresh face.

The Gunners have already secured David Luiz and Pablo Mari for next term.

Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers and Rob Holding may also have some part to play.

But Arsenal could end up striking a stunning loan deal for long-term target Samuel Umtiti this summer.

Barcelona are reportedly desperate to offload the Frenchman and are willing to let him leave on loan with the view to a permanent deal in 2021.

Arsenal’s lack of funds means they could sign Umtiti on the cheap and direct remaining cash at other areas of the squad.

However, Manchester United and Chelsea could also be interested after being linked with Umtiti in the past.
