Arsenal transfer target Cody Gakpo admits he is open to move but demands playing time to make Holland’s World Cup squad

ARSENAL transfer target Cody Gakpo is open to leaving PSV Eindhoven this summer.

The forward has been in brilliant form this season with 21 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

His form has caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

But Arsenal are believed to be in pole position to land a £42million transfer – and now Gakpo has revealed a move could be on the cards.

He told De Telegraaf: “Anything can happen this summer.

“I will now calmly compare all the options and see what is best for me. Staying another year is also an option.

“It would be a shame if I went somewhere where I wouldn’t get a job at all and I could miss the World Cup. I’ll keep that in mind.”

Last month the Dutchman also shared his desire to play in the Premier League and his fondness of the Gunners.

He has improved his efficiency in front of goal thanks to working with former Manchester United star Ruud van Nistelrooy at PSV – but his first role model was Thierry Henry.

Gakpo told SunSport: “The Premier League is a big league. Virgil van Dijk plays there with Liverpool so I like to watch them.

“We are not the same kind of league but I think we try to look at the Prem and learn about it. Everybody wants to play one time in the Prem. I don’t favour one team but I like Arsenal a lot.

“I looked up to Henry when I was younger because he was a tall guy who played on the wing.”
