Arthur Melo facing FOUR MONTHS out with Liverpool star set to have surgery in huge injury blow

LIVERPOOL star Arthur Melo is set to be out for “three to four months” after picking up an injury in training.

The Brazilian has made just one senior appearance for the Reds since joining on loan from Juventus.

Arthur Melo has played 13 minutes of first team action since joining Liverpool

The Brazilian has been limited to the bench since his brief outing against Napoli

Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Arsenal, Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp said: “We have one new injury, it’s Arthur Melo.

“In the last session before the Rangers game, in a normal situation he just injured a muscle.

“We have to wait for further assessment to know exactly how long it will be but he’s out.”

According to The Athletic, Arthur will undergo surgery this weekend that will take him out of action until 2023.

Liverpool shelled out a £4m loan fee to sign Arthur up for the season.

But he has so far managed just 13 minutes of action, as a late substitute in the disastrous 4-1 defeat at Napoli.

He has also been on the bench in matches against Ajax, Everton and Brighton.

In a bid to build fitness, the former Barcelona star played 63 minutes of a 1-0 EFL Trophy defeat to Rochdale.

Fans couldn’t believe their eyes as the match unfolded, with player-coach Jay Spearing replacing Arthur.

He also played for Liverpool’s Under-21s in the PL2.

Liverpool possess an option to make Arthur’s loan permanent for £33m at the end of the season.
