Gabriel Jesus, the Brazilian striker, was left in an awkward situation when CBS Sports abruptly cut off his post-match interview and opted to speak to Harry Kane instead.
The Incident
Jesus was speaking to the broadcaster after Arsenal's 4-0 win over PSV in the Champions League. He had just scored in the match and was discussing his return from injury. He even managed to fire a jibe at Manchester United. However, his interview was abruptly cut short as he was thanked by presenter Kate Abdo.
CBS Prefers Harry Kane
Instead of continuing the interview with Gabriel Jesus, CBS decided to speak to former Tottenham ace Harry Kane, who now plays for Bayern Munich. Kane had just come out on top against Manchester United, scoring a penalty and assisting Leroy Sane in the Bundesliga giants' 4-3 victory at the Allianz Arena.
Awkward Moment on Air
During Harry Kane's interview, Kate Abdo admitted that they cut off Gabriel Jesus in order to speak to the England captain. Thierry Henry, who was also present, could be heard saying "Wow" in response. Kane jokingly asked if Thierry's decision influenced the switch. The group erupted in laughter when Henry suggested that Kane would suit an Arsenal shirt, sparking speculation about a potential move.
Fans React
Some Arsenal fans were not happy with CBS's decision to cut short Gabriel Jesus' interview in favor of Harry Kane. Fans took to Twitter to express their frustration with one user saying, "CBS did dirty there cutting off Jesus' interview to get Kane on the mic…". Another fan commented, "CBS just cut Jesus short to go to Harry Kane, boo, boo I say!". A third wrote, "Come on CBS, don't cut the Jesus interview for Kane."
