Barrow were beaten 1-0 by fellow League Two side Salford City at Holker Street.

Dunne joined Sunderland from Falkirk three years ago.

But two first team appearances in the EFL Trophy was all Dunne could muster in a Sunderland shirt.

He left the club this summer and is currently without a club.

Dunne played eight senior games for Falkirk before leaving to join the Black Cats.

Elsewhere in the EFL SunSport exclusively revealed that Blackburn Rovers are strong favourites to sign Tyler Morton on loan from Liverpool.

Rovers hope to clinch a deal in the next week but may yet have to wait until closer to the end of the window.

Meanwhile Everton are ready to loan out £10million January signing Nathan Patterson in order to get him game time, as revealed by SunSport.

The 20-year-old was one Rafa Benitez’s last signings when he joined from Rangers in the winter transfer window.

Championship sides will be queuing up to try and sign the ten-cap Scotland star.

Although whether he is loaned out for half the campaign or the entire season still remains to be seen.
