BAYERN MUNICH have told star man Thomas Muller to butt out of their transfer business.
Muller urged the German giants not to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Chelsea target Kai Havertz for £80million – as the Bavarians had forced their players to take pay cuts during the coronavirus pandemic.
But Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has told the Germany international to mind his own business.
Striker Muller hit out after Munich’s DFB Pokal Cup semi-final win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
He claimed there was a “paradox” between the club’s finances, controlled by executive director of finance Jan-Christian Dreesen and their pursuit of big-money signings this summer.
Havertz is also wanted by Manchester United.
Muller, also wanted by United, said: “I unfortunately have no insight into the finance department of Mr Dreesen and the sporting director’s department.
“So I don’t know what money can be allocated in current times.
“It’s also a little paradoxical when you’re always talking about new signings and at the same time wages are being cut.”
But fuming Salihamidzic told Sky Sports Germany: “After the cup game, Thomas, when he wasn’t so happy with the team’s performance, maybe chose the wrong path with his words.
“We talked about it the next day. We sat down and I told him it wasn’t correct.
“He understood that, he’s a very, very intelligent boy, a very, very intelligent player.”
Munich are one win away from sealing their eighth successive Bundesliga title.
They are also close to tying up a new deal for David Alaba, whose contract expires in a year.
Salihamidzic said: “We are very happy with how David has developed this season. He is the boss in defence and has become a key figure.
“We have already had a few conversations and will continue to talk to each other, but at the moment we are all concentrating on the sporting side of things.”
