Ben White slated over £50m Arsenal transfer as he’s ‘too good’ for them with Man Utd missing trick, says Danny Mills

DANNY MILLS reckons Ben White should set his sights higher than Arsenal and target the Premier League’s bigger sides for his next move.

The ex-Manchester City full-back was sharing his thoughts on talkSPORT amid reports of the Brighton star nearing a switch to the Emirates.

Mills told talkSPORT he was surprised Man United have not come in for White

And the former Leeds player admitted to being stunned that Man United have not bid for the right-back, 23, who is expected to make a £50million move to North London.

Mills reckons the sought-after Albion ace is too good for the Gunners, who are due to play Inter Milan in a friendly next.

Mills, 44, told talkSPORT: “The only thing I am surprised at is Ben White has gone to Arsenal.

COMPETITION: SPOT THE BALL TO WIN A CAR AND CASH

“Let’s assume that he will be at Arsenal for two or three years at least before he goes somewhere else. I just think he is better than that.

“What is he going to win at Arsenal? League Cup, if he is lucky. Maybe the FA Cup.

“I think he is an exceptional player and I think he is a fantastic signing for Arsenal.

“I am just a little bit surprised that Manchester United, who are looking for a centre-half, haven’t come in for him.”

Mills’ comments come two days after the Gunners battled their way to a 2-0 friendly draw against Glasgow Rangers following a surprise 2-1 pre-season away loss to Hibernian.

It is thought the club, who have reportedly agreed on personal terms with the Poole-born player, had to compete with Everton and Manchester City for the defender’s services.

The right-back, who has been pictured enjoying a a well-earned break on the Greek Island of Mykonos, has attracted much interest following his efforts for Albion last term.

And the player impressed pundits during his one-term spell at Leeds during the 2019-20 season.

The Seagulls star appeared in all 46 Championship games for Marcelo Bielsa’s side helping them win promotion to the Prem for the first time in 16 years.

White helped Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League during a successful 2019-20 loan spell at Elland Road

The addition of White may come as a defensive boost to Mikel Arteta’s side who registered their lowest ever Premier League finish last term coming eighth in the table.

And it is reported Albert Sambi Lokonga could be joining White as of Arsenal’s summer transfer buys with the club looking to complete an £18m swoop for the Anderlecht midfielder.

The Gunners are set to clash with Serie A champs Inter in a Florida Cup friendly clash next.

It is reported the Gunners are close to sealing a deal for Albert Sambi Lokonga as well as White
