Bookies pay out on Liverpool winning Premier League as punters scoop six figures despite coronavirus KO

BOOKMAKER William Hill have already paid out on Liverpool winning the Premier League despite the coronavirus outbreak.

Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are 25 points clear at the top, are just two wins away from securing the silverware for the first time in 30 years.

Liverpool have only lost one game in the Premier League this season

But their chances of winning the title are in doubt as the Premier League has been suspended until April 4 at the earliest.

Uefa chief Aleksander Ceferin has dismissed claims that Liverpool will be crowned champions if the season is axed.

Despite the uncertainty, William Hill are “happy to pay out” on bets that backed Liverpool win the league.

The bookmaker have handed over a whopping six-figure pay out to punters that had money on Klopp’s men.

Joe Crilly, a spokesman for William Hill, said: “It will come as small comfort to Liverpool fans who are desperate to see their team lift the title for the first time in 30 years.

“However, in our eyes, they are the champions and as such we are happy to pay out on them being the 2019/20 Premier League winners.”

All online bets have been paid out to the punters and the other fans are now able to pick up their winnings from a shop.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has admitted he would be “gutted” if fans were not able to celebrate their first title in 30 years.

The £75million signing said: “If we won it in an empty stadium and the fans weren’t there, I’d be gutted for them.

“Obviously if there are no fans at Anfield then it will be a bit of a blow – no one wants to play games without the fans.

“Until a decision is made on how we go on from here, then we just have to deal with it.”

But the William Hill pay out should soften the blow for the Liverpool fans that have backed their team this term.
