Brazil Legend Ronaldo Once Accidentally Agreed to Sign for Fulham

Brazilian two-time World Cup winner Ronaldo once accidentally agreed to play for Fulham

Brazilian football legend Ronaldo, known as "The Phenomenon," had a glittering club and international career, scoring a total of 414 goals for clubs such as Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter, Barcelona, and the Brazilian national team. However, there is one missed opportunity that Ronaldo may end up regretting – accidentally agreeing to play for Fulham.

The Language Barrier Mishap

During his time as a Galactico at Real Madrid, Ronaldo found himself in London for a book-signing event at the famous Harrods store in Knightsbridge, which was owned by ex-Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed at the time. Due to the language barrier, Ronaldo accidentally agreed to play for Fulham when Al Fayed cheekily asked him to turn out on the pitch at Craven Cottage.

Al Fayed's Demand

After a few weeks, Al Fayed, who recently passed away at the age of 94, demanded that Ronaldo be included in Fulham's starting lineup for an upcoming Premier League match. The request came as a surprise to the club's finance director, Andy Ambler, who received a call from Al Fayed instructing him to bring Ronaldo in for the match.

Regretting the Missed Opportunity

While Ronaldo undoubtedly had an incredible career, winning numerous titles, including two World Cups, he may always wonder what could have been if he had played in England's top-flight league. The accidental agreement to play for Fulham provides a humorous tale for football fans to enjoy.
