BRENTFORD have put Max Aarons and Aaron Hickey on their summer transfer shortlist.

Thomas Frank is prioritising landing wing-backs on both sides in the window.

Max Aarons has been linked with a move away from Norwich for some time

The Bees played much of their maiden Prem season with only two natural senior full-backs – Rico Henry and Mads Roerslev.

Winger Sergi Canos often filled in, while centre-back Kristoffer Ajer came in at right-back in the final weeks of the campaign.

Speculation over 22-year-old Aarons’ future at Norwich is expected this summer after they were relegated back to the Championship.

Rio Ferdinand recently urged Manchester United to sign the ex-Luton star who has featured 165 times for the Canaries.

Real Madrid’s ‘verbal agreement’ for Tchouameni, Perisic JOINS Spurs

Bologna and Scotland youngster Aaron Hickey, 19, is capable of playing on either flank – but is wanted by Arsenal for around £21.25million.

The left-back position has been identified as one of the areas to improve, especially given Kieran Tierney’s recurring injury issues.

Hickey burst onto the scene in 2019 when he made his Hearts debut at the age of 16.

In September 2020 he signed for Bologna for around £1.5million, despite receiving interest from Bayern Munich.

At the end of his first season in Serie A he was presented with the Golden Boy award.

West Ham and Newcastle are also interested in youngster, who played in Scotland’s World Cup play-off defeat to Ukraine on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Brentford have also been heavily linked with a move for Middlesbrough full-back Djed Spence, who won promotion to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest last Sunday.

But with Tottenham and Arsenal also interested in the young right-back it could prove tricky to lure him to west London.
