The Spain ace’s future has long been in doubt, with boss Frank Lampard often opting to deploy an exciting crop of youngsters on the flank this season.

Pedro has made more than 200 appearances for Chelsea since since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Barcelona five years ago, helping the Blues win the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup.

An Achilles tendon rupture has disrupted the 32-year-old’s season and he had only started eight Prem matches before the 2019-20 campaign was KO’d due to the coronavirus crisis.

The emergence of Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Ajax star Hakim Ziyech joining next season means Pedro has been even more marginalised at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are yet to offer a sudden extension so the Spaniard looks set to become a free agent and according to Corriere dello Sport Pedro is on his way out to Roma.

The Chelsea ace is reportedly top of Paulo Fonseca’s summer wishlist as his side push for a place in the Champions League.

The Giallorossi boss believes the veteran winger will heavily impact his side’s goal scoring tally and isn’t put off that Pedro is in his thirties.

Roma are said to already said to be in contact with the Spaniard’s representatives to hash out a deal and have reportedly offered a yearly salary of £2.7million.

In March Pedro said: “I’m terminating my contract, but right now it’s not the most important thing, nor have I stopped to think about it.”

Roma may have to battle with other clubs for the former Spain international.

There is interest in the winger from the MLS with a number of clubs thought to be considering offering him a swansong in North America.

Pedro joined the Barca academy aged 17 and went on to play 321 matches for the first team, scoring 99 goals, before signing at Chelsea in 2015.

He won an eye-watering 16 major honours at the Nou Camp, including three Champions Leagues, and has added a further three trophies in West London.

On the international stage, Pedro has also won both the World Cup and European Championships.
