Chelsea ‘add Carlo Ancelotti to shortlist’ with Real Madrid manager latest ex-boss to be linked with sensational return

CHELSEA are considering appointing Carlo Ancelotti as their next permanent manager, according to reports.

Frank Lampard was named interim boss on Thursday and will take charge until the end of the season.

Chelsea are interested in appointing Carlo Ancelotti

That provides Todd Boehly and co. with time to conduct an exhaustive search for a new manager, with the shortlist of suitable candidates ever-growing.

The latest name to be added to the list is Real Madrid boss Ancelotti, according to ESPN.

Ancelotti is under pressure at Real with Barcelona runaway LaLiga leaders this season.

And he could be willing to return to Stamford Bridge, having won the Premier League with the Blues in 2010.

It is believed he would be prepared to work alongside a technical director at Chelsea as he has experience doing so at former clubs.

But Boehly could find it difficult to lure Ancelotti back to London due to interest from elsewhere.

The Italian has reportedly agreed to become the next Brazil manager and is set to take charge at the end of the season.

However Ancelotti is under contract at Real until 2024, and it is claimed he has not signed any agreement with Brazil.

Chelsea have several options to choose from if Ancelotti is unavailable.

Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann are amongst the favourites to take over with the former jetting into London this week for talks.

Mauricio Pochettino, Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva have also been linked to the role.
