THREE of the Premier League’s top clubs are set to do battle for Lille starlet Boubakary Soumare in the summer, according to reports.
Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all keen on the 21-year-old midfielder.
The Blues and Red Devils were interested in signing Soumare in the January transfer window.
And Sport now claim that Liverpool have also entered the mix – with Jurgen Klopp a big fan of the player.
The Reds held tentative talks over the France under-21 international last summer – but Soumare wanted to see out the season in France.
But, depending on the state of the club’s finances following the coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool could return for the box-to-box midfielder this summer.
Newcastle also made an audacious £35million move for Soumare in January.
But the talented technician rejected Steve Bruce’s men.
The Magpies boss said at the time: “We had a bid accepted that would have been near enough a club record but the player didn’t want to come.
“We got past the club but unfortunately the player wanted to stay where he was.”
Since then, however, Soumare has fallen out of favour in Ligue 1.
Prior to the suspension of the league, he had not started a match since before Newcastle’s bid.
In fact, he wasn’t even summoned from the bench for six matches in a row – before making a seven-minute cameo against Lyon in the final match before the suspension.
Real Madrid are also said to be monitoring his progress, although Paul Pogba is their primary target.
