Chelsea ‘are trying to HIJACK PSG’s Mukiele transfer and willing to offer RB Leipzig Werner in swap deal for defender’

CHELSEA are reportedly trying to hijack Nordi Mukiele’s move to Paris Saint-Germain – and are willing to offer RB Leipzig Timo Werner as part of the deal.

The Blues have suffered a major transfer blow with the news that Barcelona had snatched Sevilla defender Jules Kounde from under their noses.

Chelsea are trying to hijack Nordi Mukiele’s move to PSG

Timo Werner has allegedly been offered back to his old club as part of the deal

They had agreed a £55million deal for the France international, 23, and hoped to finally end their year-long chase of the defender.

But Barcelona moved to usurp them – leaving Thomas Tuchel searching for an alternative.

Now Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna claims Chelsea are trying to get RB Leipzig defender Mukiele instead.

The French international centre-half, 24, had allegedly already agreed terms to return to his homeland with PSG.

However, he has yet to sign the contract, and now Tuchel is plotting a dramatic late swoop.

This fresh report claims that Chelsea are “trying to hijack” the move and are ready to offer forward Werner, who signed from Leipzig in 2020, back to his old club.

PSG still remain confident that they can see off the threat from Tuchel’s side.

And they are now desperately trying to get the contracts signed in order to officially unveil Mukiele as part of their squad by Wednesday.

Mukiele burst onto the scene in Ligue 1 with Montpellier before Leipzig swooped for him in 2018.

He has gone on to make over 100 Bundesliga appearances for them since, catching the eye of both PSG and Chelsea.

And his efforts have also been recognised at international level as Didier Deschamps handed him a first cap for France last year.

Werner on the other hand has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Despite his hard-working performances, the German international has only managed ten goals in the Premier League and is not a regular started.

And a switch back to Leipzig could prove too strong to resist.

Meanwhile Kounde became the latest LaLiga-based defender to snub a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were tracking Real Madrid’s Eder Militao following the free transfer exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta could also leave… for Barca.

However, Militao signed a new bumper contract, reaffirming his commitment to the European champions.
