Chelsea beat Man City to transfer for Sunderland wonderkid keeper Toby Bell, 14, after playing shock ace card

CHELSEA have beaten off Manchester City to sign Sunderland’s schoolboy keeper Toby Bell.

Etihad chiefs wanted the 14-year-old but the Blues came up with a package that includes a place at a top West London school.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won the race to sign Sunderland’s wonderkid

Sunderland must wait on a tribunal settling compensation but it may reach seven figures if Bell plays for England.

It’s already been a busy summer of transfer activity at Stamford Bridge.

Nicolas Jackson arrived from Villarreal in a £32million deal.

While the Blues also finally confirmed the £52m arrival of RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku.

So far, Chelsea’s transfer window has been more dominated by outgoings.

Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy and N’Golo Kante have all moved to the Saudi Pro League.

While Kai Havertz signed for Arsenal and Mason Mount for Manchester United.

Mateo Kovacic joined Manchester City following Ilkay Gundogan’s Etihad exit.

While Christian Pulisic left for AC Milan this week.

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta was allowed to join Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.

And David Datro Fofana has moved to Strasbourg on loan.
