Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to hold talks with Conor Gallagher over his future amid Crystal Palace transfer interest

THOMAS TUCHEL will reportedly hold talks with Conor Gallagher over his Chelsea future amid interest from Crystal Palace.

The midfielder, 22, enjoyed a stunning loan spell at Selhurst Park this season, scoring eight goals in 34 Premier League appearances.

Thomas Tuchel will hold talks with Conor Gallagher when he returns from Crystal Palace

Tuchel is a big fan of Gallagher but the midfielder’s Chelsea future is unclear

Gallagher’s fine form resulted in an England debut last year.

And Palace are now eager to sign the ex-Charlton, Swansea and West Brom loanee permanently.

But Fabrizio Romano claims Gallagher is “highly rated” by Chelsea boss Tuchel.

And the German wants to talk with the Cobham product before deciding on his next move.

Romano said: “Thomas Tuchel wants to have direct discussions with Conor Gallagher on his future and next season’s plans.

“He’s highly-rated by the Chelsea manager.

“There are chances for Gallagher to be part of Chelsea’s squad for next season.

“But it’s not 100 per cent sure yet.”

Gallagher’s eye-catching performances in the top flight have also landed him on Everton’s shopping list.

But he has interest from abroad too, with Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan both sending scouts to watch him in March.

However, Patrick Vieira reckons Palace will be in pole position should Gallagher decide he needs to leave Chelsea for the sake of his career.

Eagles boss Vieira declared: “Conor has been fantastic for us. He felt like he is at home, the way he has been performing for us.

“He understands the way that we want to play the game, and he brings his energy and his determination.

“We know that he has to go back to Chelsea. Then, what will happen? We don’t know.

“But what is important is that he came for a year, and he worked hard and worked well, and he gave something to the team and the football club.

“It was a win-win. He was really happy with us. He played really well, which allowed him to go to England. He’s happy, so we are happy.”

When asked previously about Gallagher’s future, Vieira remarked: “He’s been really good to us and we will have to wish him good luck if he goes back to Chelsea.

“If there’s a possibility to bring him back, we will definitely talk about it.”
