Chelsea ‘confident of securing Victor Osimhen transfer from Napoli’ even without Champions League football

CHELSEA “are confident they can win the race to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen” – even without Champions League football.

The striker is enjoying an incredible season in Serie A and is on the verge of firing them to a first title since 1990 as well as helping them to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Chelsea ‘are confident’ they will win the chase to sign Victor Osimhen

The Nigerian, 24, now has a host of Europe’s top clubs chasing his services this summer with Napoli likely to demand a transfer fee of over £100m.

German giants Bayern Munich and big-spending French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain both want Osimhen.

And, as well as Chelsea, there is plenty of interest from the Premier League with Manchester United and Arsenal circling.

However, 90min claims that a source has informed them that Chelsea “believe they can outbid their rivals”.

And they are also confident that they can “convince Osimhen to move to London even without the promise of Champions League football next season”.

Chelsea, who lost 2-0 at Real Madrid in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter final this week, currently sit 11th in the Premier League and 17 points off the top four.

Despite a huge outlay on new talents under new owner Todd Boehly, goals have proven hard to come by this term and they have only scored 29 in 30 top-flight matches.

A new striker remains their top priority and this fresh update states that Blues officials are now preparing a club-record bid for Osimhen.

And the article also offered a further boost to Chelsea supporters.

It added that “moving to England’s capital city is of interest to Osimhen but so too is the chance to follow in the footsteps of his childhood idol, Ivorian striker Didier Drogba” with the former forward one of the biggest legends in Chelsea’s history.

Osimhen, who is under contract until 2025, has been in stunning goalscoring form since his arrival at Napoli from Lille in 2020.

He has scored 45 in 74 Serie A matches – including 21 in 22 appearances so far this season.
