CHELSEA fans have been left stunned after spotting N’Golo Kante posing for a photo holding a caterpillar birthday cake during pre-season.
The Blues took a break from training and took part in an annual photoshoot that included them taking a series of snaps as well as clips ahead of the upcoming season.
The players were in high spirits as they went for different poses during the shoot, which probably has to do with player photos and GIFs shown on social media after the team scores a goal.
The west Londoners’ captain Cesar Azpilicueta, Timo Werner and Mason Mount clinched their fists like they were celebrating an important strike.
Edouard Mendy showed his gloves while Kurt Zouma was trying to distract him in the sidelines.
Tammy Abraham and Mount posed with a flower whereas Antonio Rudiger tried to photobomb Ben Chilwell, who was flexing his muscles.
But the one that stuck with Chelsea fans was Kante posing with a birthday cake of Colin the Caterpillar.
The star midfielder held the dessert in his hands and showed his signature smile from ear to ear.
Fans immediately took to Twitter trying to make sense of this odd moment as the France international’s birthday is not for another seven months.

One supporter tweeted: “Is that N’Golo Kante holding a Colin the Caterpillar? I need an explanation.”
Another fan joked: “An Icon holding an Icon. Iconic.”
And a third Chelsea faithful speculated: “For birthday pics.”
The caterpillar cake got quite a lot of attention during the shoot as it wasn’t just Kante who posed with it.
Jorginho and Thiago Silva were also pictured joking around with the popular dessert.
Chelsea continue their pre-season training ahead of Wednesday’s European Super Cup clash against Villarreal at Windsor Park.
