Chelsea fans tease Brighton’s use of transfer money on Player of the Month award… with a catch

Chelsea fans have playfully suggested that Brighton is using the money received from Moises Caicedo's transfer to fund their Player of the Month award.

Brighton recently presented Kaoru Mitoma with a Porsche as the winner of August's prize, but there's a twist to this story.

Chelsea fans speculate that Brighton is diverting funds from Moises Caicedo's transfer to cover awards expenses

Kaoru Mitoma receives a Porsche as his Player of the Month award… but there's a catch

Chelsea paid a British record fee of £115 million to Brighton for Caicedo last month.

The Ecuadorian midfielder is not the only player to have made the switch from Amex Stadium to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea also acquired Brighton's third-choice goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, for £25 million this summer.

Last year, they spent £80 million on player Marc Cucurella and manager Graham Potter, with Potter being sacked just seven months later.

Concerns have now emerged among Chelsea fans that their club may have unknowingly been funding Brighton's Player of the Month award.

Mitoma was named the latest recipient of the award by the Seagulls after scoring a goal and providing three assists.

The Japanese international sported a relaxed demeanor as he posed with his Porsche supercar.

One Chelsea fan jokingly said, "They're using the Caicedo money to provide POTM Porsches. What have we done?"

Another exclaimed, "Using that Caicedo bag to get Mitoma this Porsche! Incredible business."

One fan noted, "This is such a big flex."

Another added, "The Porsche costs £1 million, Caicedo £115 million, there's still some money left…"

However, the Brighton Porsche prize comes with a major twist.

The Player of the Month winner is only allowed to drive the car for 48 hours.

Porsche Centre Mid-Sussex, who sponsored Mitoma's award, revealed this time limit in the 2015/16 season after becoming Brighton's Performance Car Partner.

This means that Mitoma will have to make the most of his time behind the wheel, or else he'll have to say goodbye to the temporary Porsche sooner than he may think.
