Chelsea fans thankful Armando Broja has a new contract after he tells cheeky story about snubbing Tottenham

ARMANDO BROJA has sealed his place as a hero among Chelsea fans, by claiming he did not even know who Tottenham were as a kid.

The striker has returned to the Blues after last season’s loan at Southampton.

Blues fans on Twitter were lapping up Broja’s snub towards bitter rivals Spurs

He has not scored so far in four Prem appearances this term, but his brutal snub to Spurs has left Chelsea fans on social media asking for him to be rewarded with a new contract.

Broja told the Players Tribune: “I remember going to a tournament, the Tottenham scout actually came to watch another boy.

“But I just happened to play well. I got top goalscorer and player of the tournament. He approached my mum and dad before I even knew about it.

“Then my mum and dad came over and said, ‘The man from Tottenham came over to us.’ But I just thinking, ‘Who are Tottenham’?”

However Broja did join Spurs’ Under-8s and spent two years at the club before jumping ship to London rivals Chelsea.

After loan spells at Saints and Vitesse Arnhem, Broja, 21, signed a new contract with Chelsea – taking him up to 2028.

And Broja certainly has high ambitions in the game, claiming he wants to be Albania’s answer to the Brazilian Ronaldo.

Broja was born and grew up in England, but chose to play for the country of his parents’ birth.

He said: “My dad trained me, taught me, made sure I was on the right path as I progressed through the academies at Tottenham and then at Chelsea.

“I think he had it in his head that his son was gonna be an Albanian icon. Like the Albanian R9 haha.

“You see, growing up, I was all about Cristiano Ronaldo, like most kids of my generation.

“But my dad was obsessed with the other Ronaldo. The Brazilian. All I used to hear about was R9.

“I know I’ve got high targets. I want to be Albania’s own Harry Kane, Ronaldo or R9.

“I want to get my country to a World Cup. And when my career is over, I want my name to live on. For Albania. For my dad.”
