Chelsea fans worry as Timo Werner misses sitter in first match after transfer announced during tame RB Leipzig win

CHELSEA fans were not too impressed with £54million recruit Timo Werner – after he missed an absolute sitter for RB Leipzig.

The Germany striker has been out-of-sorts since the Bundesliga returned from the coronavirus.

Timo Werner, who missed an easy chance in RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win at Hoffenheim, looks dejected

But that did not stop Blues boss Frank Lampard completing a big-money deal for a man who has 32 goals in 46 games this season.

However, Werner fluffed an easy chance in the 2-0 win at Hoffenheim.

The 24-year-old was through on goal and eight yards out with just the keeper to beat but blazed his effort well over the bar.

One Blues critic slammed on Twitter: “Chelsea is this your striker? Another huge miss from Werner. Sorry for the bad vid quality.”

‘Stuff Boyd’ bit back: “Don’t apologize, quality of the vid is better than the quality of the finish.”

‘Paschalino’ posted: “He does that on purpose just a little protest as to why his move is being delayed.”

Another fan said: “i want leipzig to lose ffs… if they miss out on UCL chelsea pay less for werner.”

‘Ben’ posted: “Turns out Werner is actually s****”.

‘Bella’ said: “omg!!! missing a chance means you’re a bad player, how could i forget that logic!!”

Kimmichfcb posted: “I watch leipzig every week and werner miss a lot of clear chances.”

Mr Meeds said: “Werner should of scored one goal and had 4 assists. Missed his chance and the other Leipzig boys didn’t have their shooting boots on. Smh.”

Realist Glitzy posted a Jose Mourinho laughing meme and said: “Werner missing another big chance I’m telling you this guy will get 7 goals max next season.”

Marco said: “Leipzig create so many chances and they miss a lot of them. Werner sometimes couldn’t score goals against lower Bundesleague sides to saves his team in important games. I watched them a lot last season.”

Daniel Olmo struck twice for Leipzig as they remain hot favourites for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Chelsea hope to put the finishing touches to Werner’s signing this week.

They are also lining up Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz in another raid on the Bundesliga.
