Chelsea flop Marc Cucurella ‘wanted by Premier League rivals with Blues willing to lose HALF his £62m transfer fee’

NEWCASTLE are interested in signing Chelsea flop Marc Cucurella, according to reports.

The Toon are eager to strengthen at left-back after qualifying for the Champions League.

Marc Cucurella joined Chelsea from Brighton last summer

Cucurella, 24, joined the Blues from Brighton last summer in a £62million deal.

But he has failed to hit the heights at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Mirror, new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is willing to axe Cucurella as he bids to trim his squad.

Should the Blues sell the Spaniard, however, they may have to accept under HALF what they paid for him.

It’s claimed that Chelsea would be unlikely to receive bids of more than £30m for Cucurella.

In addition to the former Seagulls ace, Newcastle have been linked with Arsenal outcast Kieran Tierney.

The Scot is expected to leave the Gunners this summer due to his lack of game time.

Eddie Howe’s men finished fourth this term with Dan Burn primarily playing at left-back.

After leading his side back into Europe, Howe stressed the importance of recruiting quality rather than quantity.

He said: “I hoped to do some things [this summer] and I don’t think [finishing in the top four] changes the numbers.

“We’ll have to produce a squad for the Champions League, so top-four won’t change the amount of signings.

“As I’ve said, it won’t be a lot of numbers and a lot of big moves in.

“Hopefully it’ll be the right two or three players to make us better.”

Chelsea, meanwhile, are chasing reinforcements of their own.

The Blues are expected to sign Brighton ace Moises Caicedo and Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson.
