Chelsea flop Michy Batshuayi set for Premier League return with Nottingham Forest

Former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is reportedly on the cusp of a surprising comeback to the Premier League, as Nottingham Forest looks to secure a transfer move for the Fenerbahce forward.

Failed to live up to expectations at Chelsea

During his six seasons at Chelsea, Batshuayi, 29, joined the club for £33 million from Marseille in 2016 and contributed to their Premier League title win in his first season. However, he struggled to cement a regular starting spot in the team and was subsequently sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace, and Besiktas.

Chance for redemption in England

After securing a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge in 2022 to Fenerbahce, Batshuayi scored 25 goals in 77 appearances for Chelsea. Now, he has the opportunity to make amends with a second stint in England.

Close to completing a move to Nottingham Forest

According to reports from Foot Mercato, Nottingham Forest is in advanced talks to sign Batshuayi. The player has already agreed to personal terms with Steve Cooper’s side, and Forest is now in negotiations with Fenerbahce to finalize the transfer ahead of the Friday deadline. If the deal goes through, Batshuayi could reunite with his former teammate at Chelsea, Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is rumored to be on the verge of an £8 million transfer to Forest.

History of collaboration with Chelsea

This is not the first time Nottingham Forest has done business with Chelsea. Forest already has former Chelsea starlet Ola Aina in their squad and managed to secure Brazil midfielder Andrey Santos on a season-long loan from the Blues.
