Chelsea flop Romelu Lukaku holds up Inter Milan scarf as striker lands in Italy to seal £6.9m season-long loan transfer

ROMELU LUKAKU is back in Italy ahead of his return to Inter Milan and has proudly posed with a club scarf.

The 29-year-old will link up with the San Siro outfit for a second time just a year after he re-joined Chelsea in a club-record £97.5million deal.

But he failed to hit the heights expected of him at Stamford Bridge, with Thomas Tuchel deeming him surplus to requirements.

And Inter have been quick to secure his services with the Serie A giants agreeing a £6.9m season-long loan deal with the Blues.

Speaking on Tuesday, Nerazzurri CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that the Belgium international was set to sign.

He said: “We have to thank the availability of the presidency and the owners. I hope it can be closed, not in a few hours, but a few days.

“We cannot make it official yet. He is a returning player who has done very well with us and we are happy to bring him home.”

And Lukaku has now touched down in Italy, with a video shared by Dazn showing the striker in Milan on Wednesday morning.

In the clip, Lukaku was mobbed by reporters as he made his way to his car, where he was presented with a blue and black Inter scarf.

He duly held up the item with a smile as he posed for pictures.

The ex-Everton marksman was then asked for his thoughts at returning to his former stomping ground.

To which he said: “I’m very happy to be back!”

Lukaku will now undergo his Inter medical on Wednesday before his return is officially announced.

The club’s ultras have warned their fellow fans that no-one should welcome him as they declared he will have to earn their respect following his 2021 exit.
